Accessibility declaration

This digital accessibility statement applies to the websites of the State of Hesse published at www.hessen.de and at english.hessen.de.
As a public body within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2016/2102, we strive to make our websites and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the provisions of the Hessian Disability Equality Act (HessBGG) and the Hessian Ordinance on Accessible Information Technology (HVBIT) implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

Status of compatibility with the requirements

The accessibility requirements are derived from sections 3(1) to (4) and 4 of the HVBIT, which was enacted on the basis of section 14 of the HessBGG. The verification of compliance with the requirements is based on a self-assessment conducted in September 2020.

Based on the review, the website is partially compliant with the aforementioned requirements due to the following exceptions.

Disproportionate burden

The .pdf files provided on the website are only partially designed to be accessible. The same applies to videos (closed captioning). In addition, not all content is available in easy language. Sign language videos are currently only provided for selected press conferences.

b. Explanation of why disproportionate burden exists.
The necessary resources for accessible websites have been budgeted for the complete technical and editorial overhaul of the state's Drupal-based websites in 2021.

You have the right to contact the Enforcement and Monitoring Body directly after a period of six weeks. With the involvement of all parties, the ombudsman's office attempts to determine the circumstances of the lack of accessibility so that the institution can remedy it.
